This is a Larimer County natural area located 35 miles north of Fort Collins.

Red Mountain is nearly 16,000 acres of open grassland, with starkly contrasting deep red and light tan rock outcroppings.

There are seasonal streams flowing between the rocks.

Prairie dogs, badgers, coyotes, fox and prairie raptors inhabit this area. Pronghorn antelope, mule deer and elk can also be seen at times.
